I enjoy using TikTok in my free time and scrolling through videos, and one of my favorite parts of the app is that I can save videos I come across into folders to view later. Over the years I have saved almost 6000 videos meaning there is virtually no end to the content I have saved, but there is something I began to notice. Every so often when I'd click on a folder, I'd notice a video or two's thumbnail is gone and replaced with an icon meant to signify that the video had been taken down. I would be left with no indication of what video was lost, just that there was once a video, but it no longer exists.

I began to think about all the other things I've encountered on the internet that no longer exist, or that may one day cease to exist. Websites like the Internet Archive are wonderful tools, but they aren't expansive enough to cover all of what I'd like to be able to access after some time passes. In order to make sure I always have access to the things I'd like to, I began downloading things on a 1tb hard drive I had. I'd download old commercials, movies, music, flash games, images, and so much more. Unfortunately I was given a reminder that digital storage is by no means permanent when the hard drive was corrupted. Luckily I was able to recover a majority of everything on it, but I am currently stuck using smaller SD cards at a few hundred GBs.

I enjoy sharing things from my archive with others, even though I only have about 50 GB of data. Unfortunately though, the things inside don't seem to interest anyone nearly as much, so I kind of just have it. I plan on eventually showing some of the things to my future kids, but for now I have no one to share anything with. That's why I decided I'd use my site as a host for some of my favorite items from the archive. It won't be all 48 GB, but it will be some of the highlights that I think more people should see :D!
